Eunice Eboserehimen Omonzejie, a Professor of French and Francophone African Literature, has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State.

Her appointment followed her recommendation by the institution’s Governing Council and approval by the state governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo.
According to a statement from the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, the appointment was made from among three names recommended to the governor by the Governing Council of the institution.
On February 23, 2016, she became the President of the Ambrose Alli University Chapter of the National Association of Women Academics (NAWACS).
Prof. Eunice Omonzejie is the second female VC of AAU after Prof. Cordelia Ainenehi Agbebaku, who served between 2014 and 2016, after being in acting capacity from 2011.
Prof. Omonzejie, who officially resumed duty on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, now joins the list of female Vice Chancellors in Nigeria.
She takes over from the Acting VC, Prof. Sunday Olowo Samuel. It will be recalled that Prof. Olowo was appointed by former Governor Godwin N. Obaseki on February 8, 2022.
Ambrose Alli University (AAU), established in 1981, is owned by the Edo State Government. The institution has witnessed name changes since inception: from Bendel State University to Edo State University, and finally to Ambrose Alli University, to immortalize Professor Ambrose Folorunsho Alli, a former governor of the state, during whose tenure the institution was founded.
