UNIZIK Produces 36 First-Class Graduates in 2023/2024 Academic Session (Full List)

The Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has produced 36 first-class graduates for the 2023/2024 academic session, according to the best graduating student list published on the institution’s official website.

The list which was obtained by EdubaseNG on March 28, 2025, indicates an increase in the number of first-class graduates compared to the 2022/2023 session, which recorded 29 first-class students.

An analysis conducted by our team revealed that the Faculty of Arts produced the highest number of first-class graduates, with eight students. The Faculties of Engineering and Management Sciences followed closely, each producing five first-class graduates.

Two students from the Faculty of Management Sciences—OZOBALU, Melvi Ekenedilichukwu, and MARTINS, Obinna Kelvin—were listed among the best graduating students.

Similarly, EGWUCHIKA, Tochukwu Onyeze of the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, has been named the best graduating student for the 2023/2024 academic session. He achieved a cumulative GPA of 4.95 during his undergraduate studies.

He is followed by OZOBALU, Melvi Ekenedilichukwu of the Department of Banking and Finance, Faculty of Management Sciences, who accumulated a GPA of 4.75.

MARTINS, Obinna Kelvin, from the Department of Accountancy, Faculty of Management Sciences, secured the third position with a CGPA of 4.51.

The top three graduating students will receive awards and cash prizes at the institution’s upcoming 19th convocation ceremony, which already began on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. The prizes are as follows:

  • First place – ₦250,000
  • Second place – ₦150,000
  • Third place – ₦100,000

The best graduating student award is sponsored by AKPOAZAA Foundation.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Sen. George Akume is expected to deliver the convocation lecture.
