The Management of the University of Maiduguri has raised alarm over a fraudulent message circulating online, asking unsuspecting applicants to pay ₦15,000 as a “catchment fee” for admission.
According to a statement signed by the Registrar, Ahmad A. Lawan, the fake message, linked to the website payuninmaid.com and claiming to be from the College of Medical Science Admission Committee, is entirely false.
“The University of Maiduguri has no affiliation with this site or its operators,” the statement read, adding that the institution “categorically dissociates itself from such fraudulent claims.”
The management emphasized that the university does not request applicants to make admission-related payments to private or unverified websites. It further stated that all legitimate admission updates are communicated through the university’s official website and recognized channels.
Applicants and the general public were cautioned to ignore such scams and avoid transacting with impostors, warning that anyone who does so does it at their own risk.
The university reiterated that it will not be held responsible for any financial loss arising from dealings with fraudulent platforms.
