Earlier, we told you that the University of Abuja, also known as Yakubu Gowon University, has joined the train of universities offering HND to BSc conversion programmes in Nigeria.
Whether it’s called a degree upgrader, top-up, conversion, or HND/BSc programme, they all mean the same thing.

Here is everything you need to know about the degree upgrader at UNIABUJA:
- 65 courses are available under the top-up programme across nine faculties of the institution.
- The programme is managed by the institution’s Centre for Distance Learning and Continuing Education.
- It is not exclusive to polytechnic graduates; NCE holders can also apply. BSc or B.A holders who graduated with a poor grade may also apply for an upgrade.
- The online application fee is N25,000 plus a N300 platform fee (excluding bank charges), payable via the Remita platform.
- The school fee is N158,500, while the acceptance fee is N30,000.
- The accepted O’level results include WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or TC II.
- HND applicants must have graduated with at least a Lower Credit, while BSc or B.A holders must have graduated with a minimum of a Pass degree.
- The conversion programme at UNIABUJA runs for two academic sessions, with each session containing three semesters (six semesters in total).
- The entry level is 200.
- The mode of study is full-time and held on weekends.
- For candidates who can’t afford full payment, installment payments are allowed on a 60/40% fee split.
