UCH School of Nursing gets NUC approval to award degree in Nursing

UCH School of Nursing officials show off the NUC approval to award BNSc in Nursing

IBADAN | NOV 13, 2025: The School of Nursing, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State, has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to offer a full-time degree programme and award the Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.NSc).

In a letter dated November 6, 2025, and addressed to the Principal, School of Nursing, UCH, Ibadan, Dr. (Mrs.) Adenike Olaniyi, the programme will be efficiently managed through affiliation with the University of Ibadan (UI).

Dr. Olaniyi stated that the feat was made possible through the sterling hard work of the Hospital Management, led by the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, “for working tirelessly to meet the standards set by the NUC.”

According to her, students would now have the opportunity “to pursue a prestigious nursing degree right within the walls of the University College Hospital, Ibadan.”

Congratulating the UCH School of Nursing, the CMD, Prof. Otegbayo, stated that “the approval is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our staff and students,” assuring prospective candidates that the institution will “offer our students the best possible education, and this partnership with the University of Ibadan will undoubtedly enhance their academic experience.”

UCH School of Nursing is the oldest School of Nursing in Nigeria.
