ILE-IFE, Oct 12 – Taro Agric Consulting on Saturday inducted its first batch of trainees under the government-backed Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme aimed at empowering Nigerians in agribusiness.
- Trainees to receive hands-on training in poultry, aquaculture, and beekeeping
- Screening conducted using official TVET ID and biodata forms
- CEO urges participants to stay focused and embrace agriculture

The induction and screening exercise took place at the firm’s training centre in Erefe, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Shortlisted participants were at the venue, not only for a familiarisation tour of the facility but also for screening through their TVET identification and biodata forms printed from the official portal.
Speaking with EdubaseNG during the exercise, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Taro Agric Consulting, Mr. Olamide Akintaro, urged the trainees to take full advantage of the opportunity, describing TVET as “one of the best federal government initiatives” designed to curb unemployment and promote self-reliance through agribusiness.
Recalling how he ventured into livestock farming in almost two decades ago as an undergraduate at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Akintaro said success in the field comes with persistence and dedication.
“There are challenges in livestock farming, as in any other business, but losses can be reduced when you’re trained by experts who have seen both the highs and lows of the industry,” he noted.
What is TVET?
The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) scheme is an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education, coordinated by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). It aims to equip Nigerian youth with industry-relevant skills, reduce unemployment, foster entrepreneurship, and drive national economic growth.
