Days after opening its portal for application, some applicants of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) have continued to express their frustration over their inability to complete their application on the portal.
One of the major issues some disclosed they face is “student record not found”, but the management of NELFUND says the problem is institutional one and directs applicants to the ICT Unit of their institutions.
Specifically, an undergraduate student at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Kaduna State, who disclosed that the issue had prevented many of them from applying for the government-backed student loan.
He complained, “Many of us from ABU ZARIA could not register because of this “Student Records”. Unfortunately, contacting the school could not solve the problem either! Where, What and How do we do? A comprehensive guide would be helpful please.”
Responding, @NELFUND said such issues could be resolved by Information Communication Technology of their various institutions.
“Please contact your Director ICT via email on director.iaiict@abu.edu.ng and explain the challenges you are facing,” NELFUND instructed.

Similarly, a student of the Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, complained that he had been facing a similar issue of student record not found. You can check this page for solution for other issues.
All technical issues resolved on portal – NELFUND
The latest outcry emanated after the government loan agency disclosed that all technical glitches on its portal had been resolved.
Recall that the student loan portal started accepting applications on May 24, 2024, but some applicants say it has been challenging submitting an application.
And on June 17, 2024, the agency directed applicants who had issued “to check back in to either re-register or continue the application process. The technical issues have been resolved.
“You may also have received an SMS or email from NELFUND calling for you to try again.”
While some students are complaining, there have also been testimonies from those who have successfully completed their applications and are awaiting disbursement after all verification is completed by the school and NELFUND.
So, kindly report at the ICT unit of your school if the problem of “student record not found” persists on your dashboard. It could mean that your data has not been submitted and uploaded on the Student Verification System of the loan agency.

It is the responsibility of your institution to upload your data on the NELFUND SVS because they have the correct fee schedule of the students. Can you talk to the Student Union of your school?

The guys at the ICT must be living in another space. How on earth would anyone in an academic environment in Nigeria at the moment say “there is nothing like NELFUND”
