Ebunoluwa Aderonke Adejuyigbe is a Nigerian Professor of Paediatrics and Child Health at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State. She is the first female Vice-Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo.
Early Life and Education
Prof. (Mrs.) Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe hails from Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State. She attended Girls High School, Gindiri, Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, from 1975 to 1980, where she obtained her West African Senior School Certificate.

She holds two first degrees from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife. She first earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Science (1980–1984) and immediately enrolled in the institution’s Department of Medicine, where she obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB.Ch.B) in 1987. She then proceeded for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Prof. Adejuyigbe later pursued postgraduate studies, earning additional degrees, including a specialization in Paediatrics at the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, Lagos State.
Career
She began her career at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, Osun State, and joined the university’s academic staff the same year. She was a member of OAUTHC from 2013 to 2016.
In 2019, Prof. Adejuyigbe was elected President of the Nigerian Society of Paediatric Infectious Diseases. She was elevated to the rank of Professor of Paediatrics and Child Health at OAU in October 2007.
As an academic, she has served in various capacities at OAU. She is currently the Executive Director of the Central Office of Research and previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences.
As a medical practitioner, she is a Consultant Paediatrician at OAU Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, and a visiting consultant at other medical centers across Nigeria.
Beyond Nigeria, Prof. Adejuyigbe was awarded a Visiting Scholar position at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, Baltimore, Maryland, U.S. She has also worked in different capacities with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. She is a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Medicine.
On March 7, 2025, she was appointed as the third substantive Vice-Chancellor of UNIMED, Ondo. She is expected to assume office after the tenure of Prof. Fatusi ends on March 9, 2025. However, she will not officially resume until a newly constituted visitation panel, appointed by the state governor, submits its findings within six weeks. As a result, Prof. Adejuyigbe is set to take office in April 2025.
