Prof. Kadijat Kehinde Kadiri

Academic Studies

After completing her Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE), Kadijat Kadiri gained admission to the Mass Communication Department of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), where she earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc). [3]

In 2008, she was awarded a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Communication Studies by the University of Ghana. She proceeded to Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM)—a Malaysian public university focused solely on management education—where she earned a PhD in Communication in 2015.

During her career as a university teacher, she won a scholarship in the Social Sector Management Programme at Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos State, Nigeria, in 2018.

In October 2021, Kadijat Kadiri became an Associate Professor and in October 2024, she was among 20 lecturers that were promoted to the rank of professor by the Council of the University of Ilorin.

Working Experience

Kadiri began her career as a founding staff member of the Mass Communication Department of the University of Ilorin, serving as a Graduate Assistant from 2006 to 2007. The department was established during the 2005/2006 academic year. She rose through the ranks to become the head of the Mass Communication Department in July 2022 and was promoted to professor in 2025.

Earlier in her career, she served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Ilorin Centre of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations. During her PhD studies at Universiti Utara Malaysia, she was a Teaching Assistant from September 2014 to January 2015.

As a lecturer at UNILORIN, she also held the role of Part-Time Associate Lecturer at the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ), Abuja, from December 2015 to March 2020, among other part-time roles across academic and professional bodies.

Published Works

Some of her notable works have been published on Google Scholar and Academia, including “HIV/AIDS and Cultural Practices in Nigeria: An Implication for HIV/AIDS Preventive Communication Campaign” [4] and “Medical tourism in Nigeria: Challenges and Remedies to Health Care System Development,” [5] co-authored with other scholars such as Salawu Basiru, Joseph Oluyemi, and Mohammed Abubakar.

Professional Associations

Kadijat Kadiri is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the Advertising Practitioner Council of Nigeria (APCON), and the South Africa Communication Association.

Humanitarian Activities

In 2017, she founded The Grassroots Aid Initiative, a Non-Governmental Organisation where she uses photography to highlight the humanitarian needs of local people across Kwara and three other southwestern states. [6] She has also spoken also spoken at several workshops and programmes aimed at inspiring the younger generation. [7]
