NMCN approves Nursing Programme for KolaDaisi University (KDU)

KolaDaisi University Ibadan has received an approval from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to commence Nursing programme.

NMCN is a regulatory body for the training, teaching, practice, and standards for the operation of nursing and midwifery in Nigeria.

The approval from NMCN came a year after KDU got a pass from the National University Commission (NUC) to offer Nursing and some basic medical science programmes.

While announcing the approval at the institution’s Senate Building Friday, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adeniyi Olatunbosun, said “the council graciously approved an annual intake of 100 students for our Department of Nursing Science”, which was based on the level of the institution’s performance.

Licensed to operate as a private university in Nigeria in November 2016 by the NUC, the addition of Nursing has increased the number of programmes in the institution to 25, with four faculties.

The VC said the 4th convocation of the institution which began on 1 through 7 November 2024, will see over 150 students graduating with degrees in various courses while 20 of them graduated with First Class.

In terms of security, the professor of Law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) thanked the Nigeria Police, Amotekun Corps, and the  Nigerian Military, Second Mechanised Division for their continuous assistance and support to securing lives and property of the university.

He said KDU will continue to uphold the motto of the institutions, “Knowledge for the Service of Humanity” and would continue to sustain global best practices in the education sector.
