The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed another ₦15,866,000 as institutional loans to 198 students of the University of Calabar (UNICAL).
NELFUND made the announcement on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, while providing updates on the ongoing disbursement of tuition and upkeep loans to successful applicants of the education loan scheme across Nigeria.
In an acknowledgement letter personally signed by the Vice-Chancellor of UNICAL, Professor Florence Banku Obi, and dated April 3, 2025, the VC confirmed that the loan was disbursed on March 12, 2025.
She described it as “the second batch 2023/2024 disbursement made to 198 students of the University of Calabar.”
Professor Banku praised the efforts of NELFUND’s management for the timely disbursement and expressed optimism for continued collaboration to ensure the seamless actualisation of the scheme’s objectives for “our interested students.”
The latest timely update by NELFUND has become necessary following recent allegations against some institutions allegedly withholding evidence of loan receipt from successful beneficiaries.
