Renowned Professor of Economics and Management, Austin N. Nosike, has been appointed by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) as chairperson of the audit panel for the institutional audit at Welwitchia University, Namibia.

The NCHE is Namibia’s highest body responsible for coordinating the activities of higher institutions by setting academic standards and ensuring strict compliance.
In a letter dated October 23, 2024, and signed by the agency’s Deputy Executive Director, Sylvia Demas, Nosike’s appointment was not just based on his academic qualifications but also on his expertise, research experience, and management skills.
“The audit exercise will take place from November 11 to 28, 2024, and requires your full-time physical presence,” the letter states.
With the terms of reference carefully segmented into five sections, Prof. Nosike will be leading a team that will, among other things:
-Determine whether an institution is operating in alignment with its vision and ensure that its guiding systems, policies, and procedures are up to standard and effectively implemented.
-Identify any shortcomings and strengths, and make recommendations for the improvement of the program.
-Assess whether a program meets the minimum required body of knowledge that should be studied by students, identify any gaps, and suggest improvements.
-Ensure the completion of the panel report.
-Lead the oral briefing to senior management
Nosike, who serves as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academics and Research at the International University of Equator, Burundi, is also the President of the African Academy of Economics and a member of the Board of Directors at the African Institute of Management, Technology, and Development Studies (AIMTDS).
With over three decades of experience in academia and management, Nosike is known for his academic research across multiple continents.
The NCHE expressed their excitement at working with Nosike, whose contributions have impacted more than a dozen higher institutions worldwide, including in Zambia, Italy, Rwanda, Nigeria, and Ethiopia.
