Babatunde Benjamin Adeleke (also known as B.B. Adeleke), born November 10, 1946, is a Nigerian academic and professor of Chemistry who served as Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, and later as Vice-Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.
Education

He obtained his West African School Certificate in 1965. He later sat for the University of Cambridge Higher School Certificate and the University of London GCE Advanced Level examinations, passing Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics B with flying colours.
This earned him admission into the University of Ibadan (UI), where he bagged a B.Sc. in Chemistry in 1971. He went on to earn his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada, in 1973 and 1976 respectively. In 1986, University of Ibadan appointed him as a Professor of Chemistry.
Career
Immediately after completing his first degree at UI, he joined the Department of Chemistry at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (formerly University of Ife), as a Graduate Assistant under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.
Following his postgraduate studies and a brief working stint in Canada, he returned to his alma mater in 1977 as a Lecturer II. He rose through the ranks and was promoted to full Professor of Chemistry in October 1986, after serving as a Reader from October 1983 to September 1986.
BB Adeleke also served as Head of the Chemistry Department at several institutions, including Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye (now Olabisi Onabanjo University), and at the University of Ibadan (1997–1999). Between 1992 and 1993, he was a visiting Professor of Chemistry at Kuwait University.
On January 15, 2002, he was appointed Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, by then-Governor Bisi Akande. He served in that capacity until he was appointed Vice-Chancellor of LAUTECH, Oyo State. He assumed office as LAUTECH Vice-Chancellor on October 1, 2005, and completed his five-year tenure in September 2010. Since then, he has returned to the Faculty of Science of the University of Ibadan as a Professor.
Over the years, Prof. Adeleke has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students across institutions including Obafemi Awolowo University, Ekiti State University (EKSU), University of Lagos, University of Ibadan, and the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, among others.
Professional Membership
Prof. Babatunde Adeleke is a member of several professional bodies including the Chemical Society of Nigeria, the International Society of Magnetic Resonance (USA), and the Nigerian Environmental Society. He has also been honoured by various associations for his exemplary leadership and administrative acumen.

Prof. Babatunde Benjamin Adeleke has authored and co-authored several academic publications. Some notable ones include:
- Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship, Molecular Docking, and ADMET Screening of Tetrahydroquinoline Derivatives as Anti-Small Cell Lung Cancer Agents – co-published with five other scholars including Ehimen Erazua Odion and Abel Kolawole Oyebamiji.
- Molecular Modeling of the Kinetics, Mechanisms and Thermodynamics of the Gas-Phase Thermal Decomposition of O-Isopropyl S-Methyldithiocarbonate – co-authored with Isaiah Ajibade Adejoro et al.
