Married Female PCMs: How To Get NYSC Concession Posting

What is Concession Posting?

Concession posting is a special privilege that female Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) enjoy from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), allowing them to be posted to where their families or husbands are based.

This provision enables female members of the NYSC to be posted closer to their husbands or families. It reduces stress and helps ensure they can balance serving their country with the demands of maintaining a marriage and family.

Consider the challenges a married woman nursing a 3-month-old baby would face if mandated to travel from Bauchi to Lagos for orientation training.

Required documents for married female PCMs

Married PCMs who want to enjoy this privilege must provide sufficient documentation to support their claims. If you are married and would like to be posted to where your husband lives or where your family is based, you need to submit the following documents:

  • Marriage certificate
  • Newspaper change of name
  • Husband’s ID card
  • Utility bill
  • Husband’s domicile letter
  • SCCE result of the applicant (wife)
  • NIN

Explainer:

Marriage certificate: A legal document issued by Nigeria’s Ministry of Interior that confirms two people are married. This can be obtained at the registry department of your local council area.

Identity of husband: You must prove that the person you claim as your husband truly is by providing a scanned copy of his identity document, such as an INEC Voter’s card, NIMC/NIN card, driver’s license, or international passport. Proof of your husband’s ID must bear your surname.

Letter of Place of Domicile from husband: This letter must include your husband’s full name and address and be addressed to the national headquarters of the NYSC. It must also be signed by your husband.

Things to note:

  • Only female PCMs whose marriages are legally documented can enjoy this privilege.
  • Discrepancies in the information you submit may result in the rejection of your concession posting.
