ADO-EKITI | OCTOBER 28 – The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin Ekiti (FUTESI), Prof. Gbenga Aribisala, has called on well-meaning Nigerians and organisations to partner with the newly established institution in developing infrastructure such as hostels, halls, and classrooms.
Speaking during a programme in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, the VC said the university is ready to warmly welcome individuals, groups, and organisations willing to provide essential infrastructure to support its growth. According to him, such facilities could be named after their donors as part of a robust, win-win partnership.
Prof. Aribisala stated that one of the strategies to ensure the institution competes favourably in innovation among its peers globally is the introduction of highly competitive and technology-driven academic programmes such as Robotics, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Data Science, and Mechatronics.
He expressed optimism that Nigeria has the potential to match developed countries in technology, saying, “We can also produce so many things that can enhance the quality of life without necessarily importing them.”
He promised that he and his team are committed to creating knowledge, giving back to society, and making life meaningful through academic excellence. “We will help our students see reason in academic excellence and place the country on a sound footing in terms of technology,” he added.
The Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin Ekiti (FUTESI), was officially established on February 20, 2025, following a bill assented to by President Bola Tinubu.
The institution was approved alongside the Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji, Osun State. Both universities have commenced admission for the 2025/2026 academic session.
