If your mark in the just-concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is low and falls below the cutoff mark for your preferred course of study, you can change your course to another one that accepts lower marks.

Here is the step-by-step guide on how to change your course and institution on the JAMB portal:

JAMB change of course and institution

We are sure you already have a profile with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), so…

  1. Login to the JAMB portal with your login details.
  2. On the portal, check the left-hand side to see several available options, including “Correction of Data,” “Change of Course/Institution,” and others.
  3. Select “Change of Course/Institution.”
  4. A Transaction ID will be generated for the service. You will see this on the confirmation page screen. For your reference, it is advised that you take note of the transaction ID displayed in bold red font.
  5. Review the details displayed on the confirmation page.
  6. Then choose your preferred Payment Gateway—there are different options to choose from.
  7. If you wish to proceed with the payment, click the Continue button and then click the Pay button.
  8. A payment status will be sent to your email address. You can also see this under the “My Payment” section—click on Continue to proceed.
  9. Provide your UTME details, including the Year of Exam and JAMB Registration Number.
  10. A list of options for your preferred course and institution (including second choices) will appear. Choose appropriately and submit.
  11. Wait for JAMB to process your application.
  12. Your new choices will be reflected if your application is approved.

That’s how to change your course of study and institution. We’ve also published another on the courses you can switch to with a low JAMB score, in case your current JAMB score cannot secure a place for you in your first-choice discipline.
