The Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies Iragbiji (also known as FUADSI), was established on February 20, 2025, following the President’s assent to its founding.
UPDATE: FUADSI to begin academic session by October 2025

History
On October 2, 2024, the bill (SB.569: S/N 420) titled: “Federal University of Agriculture and Tropical Studies, Iragbaji, Osun State (Establishment) Bill, 2024”, sponsored by the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, was introduced and read in the Senate.
Remarkably, the bill passed both the first and second readings on the same day. While Senate rules typically prohibit such an expedited process, the Senate suspended its existing rule to allow for an accelerated passage.
The bill was subsequently referred to the Senate Committee on Agriculture Colleges and Institutions for further legislative input and a public hearing.
On October 23, 2024, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdur-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi Odundun IV, along with other stakeholders, attended the public hearing in Abuja. They advocated for an amendment to the proposed name of the institution, requesting a change from Federal University of Agriculture and Tropical Studies, Iragbiji, to Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji. The Senate Committee approved the name change.
On October 31, 2024, the Senate Committee on Agriculture Colleges and Institutions, led by Senator Simon Lalong, presented its report on the university’s establishment. The Senate subsequently conducted the third reading and approved the bill on the same day.
Finally, on February 20, 2025, President Bola Tinubu signed the bill into law, establishing both the Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji, and the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti State.
