The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said its newly introduced exceptional admission aligns with global best practices.
The examination body stated this on Monday in Abuja while releasing the results of 85 out of 182 underage candidates who honoured and passed the invitation for the special screening process.
JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, said the 85 candidates proved their mettle after meticulous evaluation. The candidates, who were less than 16 years old as of September 2025, have been notified to proceed to their respective institutions to complete the admission process and print their individual JAMB admission letters.
He recalled that out of the 2,031,133 applicants in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), a total of 41,027 candidates sought consideration under this special category, of which 599 scored the 80 per cent threshold in the UTME.
“The 599 were subjected to further scrutiny of school certificates and PUTME screening, which led to the emergence of 182 candidates,” Benjamin said.
He advised any of the 182 finalist-candidates who missed the final interview to submit a formal request through the JAMB Support Ticketing System under ‘2025 Underage Complaint’ on the portal, noting that “the window is for only the 182 finalists who might, for one reason or another, have missed the final interview.”
Similarly, candidates who scored 320 and above in the UTME but failed to upload their O-Level results, and were subsequently disqualified from proceeding, can now upload them within two (2) days (i.e. not later than Wednesday, 29th October 2025) and “notify the Board of such through the ticketing,” he said.
