In a dual congratulatory message, the Vice-Chancellor of Dominican University, Ibadan, Prof. Jacinta A. Opara, has lauded the appointments of Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu as the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and Prof. Andrew Haruna as the Secretary General of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigeria.

Prof. Opara, in her statement, described both appointments as well-deserved recognitions of the exemplary leadership and profound contributions of the appointees to higher education in Nigeria.
Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, who was appointed by President Bola Tinubu on December 6, 20204, was a former Vice-Chancellor of Sule Lamido University, Jigawa, and the Federal University of Technology, Yola.
Addressing Prof. Ribadu’s appointment to the NUC, Prof. Opara praised his dedication and visionary leadership, noting that his new role comes at a critical time for the transformation of Nigeria’s higher education sector.
“Your unwavering commitment to academic excellence and strategic vision will undoubtedly propel the NUC to greater heights, fostering innovative reforms and enhanced collaboration across Nigerian universities,” she said.

Haruna, a Professor of linguistics and Nigerian languages, is also the Vice-President of Nigerian Academy of Letters and immediate past Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Gashua.
