The Governing Council of Chrisland University, Owode, Abeokuta, has appointed Professor Oyedunni Sofa Arulogun as the second substantive Vice-Chancellor of the private institution.
Arulogun, a Professor of Health Promotion and Education, will succeed Prof. Mrs. Chinedum Peace Babalola, the university’s pioneer and first female Vice-Chancellor.
In a press release obtained by Edubase Nigeria and signed by the Registrar, Mr. Samuel Omotoso, it was stated that Arulogun’s appointment followed a rigorous screening and interview process.
Her appointment, effective from November 1, 2024, was approved by the institution’s Governing Council, led by Professor Ayodeji Olukoju.
Arulogun was one of the distinguished education managers and administrators who ranked in the top three among several professors who applied for this prestigious position.
After thorough deliberation, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees endorsed Arulogun, 59, as the next Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
Until her appointment, Arulogun served as a faculty member in the Department of Health Promotion and Education, Faculty of Public Health, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (UI).

Profile
Arulogun earned her first degree in Special Education from the University of Ibadan in 1987. After her National Youth Service, she returned to UI for an M.Ed. in Special Education (1989) and subsequently pursued another master’s degree, this time in Public Health (1992).
By 1998, the 59-year-old, now the second female Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University, had completed her Ph.D. in Health Education from her alma mater.
She is affiliated with several professional and academic bodies, including:
- Fellow, Royal Society of Public Health, United Kingdom
- Member, International Union for the Scientific Study of Population
- Member, International Union for Health Promotion and Education
- Member, American Society of Clinical Oncology
- Member, Centre for Palliative Care Nigeria
At the University of Ibadan, Arulogun held several academic and managerial roles, including Acting Dean of the Faculty of Public Health and Director of the University of Ibadan Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
She also served as Convener of the University of Ibadan Research Strengthening Committee and as Senate Representative on the Governing Council of the University of Ibadan, among other roles.
The Governing Council of Chrisland University has expressed optimism about a “new chapter of growth and excellence under her leadership.”
Established in 2015, Chrisland University is one of the accredited private universities licensed by the National Universities Commission.
