What Is a Student Loan Cancellation Letter?
A student loan cancellation letter is a formal document written in which undergraduate students who had submitted an application to fund their academics with a loan submit a request for the application to be cancelled due to various reasons.
Although the condition of repayment set by the Nigerian government is fair, an applicant may not desperately need a loan to fund his education or their parents can still bear the cost tuition and other fees.
At the time of publication, there was no option for applicants to cancel their application, you may request for a discontinuation of the processing of your loan application.
Some applicant don’t want to proceed with the loan
Since the commencement of the initiative, we’ve received more than a dozen requests on how to cancel their loan due to personal reasons. To do this, you would likely need to send a formal request to Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), notifying them in writing that you no longer need a loan to support your education.
So, if you changed your mind after an initial interest, this guide discusses how to properly write a loan cancellation letter to NELFUND:

The process of submitting loan cancellation letter on NELFUND Portal
On NELFUND portal, click the “Contact Us”
Under the get in touch, there is a link you are directed to click
This will land you on the eSupport at nelfund.esupport.ng
Choose “Raise Ticket”
Fill in your details such as your name, email address, phone number (as they appear in your application)
Under category, choose “Loan Application”
Under the subcategory, choose “Other loan application issue”
And send
You can monitor the progress of your ticket in your dashboard by checking “My Tickets”
You will get a response from the support
Conclusion:
While you can use a loan cancellation letter to cancel your student loan application with NELFUND, it is important to note that you cannot cancel your application when your application has reached the disbursement stage.
Also, the Fund is working on its portal to include other self-service options, we hope the loan cancellation button will be one of them.
