Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, has unveiled the schedule of activities for its 16th Convocation Ceremony, a week-long celebration set to showcase the university’s academic achievements and traditions.
The event, which will feature a blend of spiritual, academic, sporting, and cultural activities, begins on Sunday, November 24, 2024, while the grand finale holds on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
Highlights of the Programme
Holy Communion Service:
The convocation will open with a Holy Communion service on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 9:00 AM. The service will take place at Crowther Hall, setting a spiritual tone for the week.
Vice Chancellor’s Press Conference:
On Monday, November 25, 2024, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Abiodun Adebayo, will address the press at the ACU Welcome Centre at 10:00 AM.
The day will continue with:
Convocation Exhibition at Theophilus Danjuma University Library at 12:00 Noon, where the university’s innovations and achievements will be on display.
ACU Alumni Lecture and Reunion at 1:00 PM in the Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Law Auditorium, providing an opportunity for past graduates to reconnect.
Final Football Match for the Vice Chancellor’s Cup at 4:00 PM at the Sports Centre, a thrilling conclusion to the annual tournament.
Convocation Lecture and Play:
A keynote convocation lecture will be delivered on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, by Prof. Abel Idowu Olayinka, a distinguished professor of applied geophysics and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan. Prof. Olayinka, who is also the President of the West African Research and Innovation Management Association, will speak at 11:00 AM in the Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Law Auditorium.
Later that day, a Convocation Play will be staged at 3:00 PM at the Olajire Olaniran University Auditorium, showcasing the university’s vibrant cultural heritage.
Award of Degrees:
On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, undergraduate and master’s degree recipients will be celebrated during a ceremony at Crowther Hall starting at 11:00 AM.
Grand Finale:
The convocation will conclude on Thursday, November 28, 2024, with the award of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees and honourary doctorate degrees.
The event, scheduled for 11:00 AM at the Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Law Auditorium, will recognize notable individuals, including Mrs. Bola Adams and Barrister Modupe Alakija, a prominent Lagos-based legal practitioner and spouse of Nigeria’s wealthiest woman, Chief Folorunso Alakija.
