ACU Director of Works, Dr Olaniyi, Conferred with Fellowship of Nigerian Society of Engineers

Aderogba Olaniyi Associate Professor of Civil Engineering

Director of Works at Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Engr. Oluwole Aderogba Olaniyi, has been conferred with the Fellowship of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE).

According to a statement signed by Engr. Abubakar Halilu Mu’azu, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Olaniyi is among 480 engineers that will officially be conferred with the FNSE on December 1, 2025, at the International Conference Centre of the University of Ibadan, Oyo State.

Earlier in the year, Olaniyi, an Associate Professor of Structures and Materials, was conferred with the Fellowship of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (FNICE) on October 22, 2025, at the International Civil Engineering Conference and Annual General Meeting of the professional body held in Kano, Northwest Nigeria.

He had earlier bagged the Fellowship of the Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers (FNISafetyE) at an event held at the North Campus of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, on October 11, 2025.

Olaniyi began his academic journey at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, where he obtained an OND in Civil Engineering in 2003. He proceeded to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, earning a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) and Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Civil Engineering in 2008 and 2014, respectively.

He later enrolled for a higher postgraduate degree at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Kwara State, and earned a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, specializing in Structures and Materials, in 2023.

Olaniyi has been active both in class and on the field, where he has mentored and nurtured several students who are today professional engineers across the country. He has also worked as a site engineer, supervising several multi-million-naira projects across Nigeria, including in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

He began his teaching career at the Department of Civil Engineering, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, before volunteering with the Technical Aid Corps (TAC) at the University of The Gambia, where he pioneered the establishment of the Civil and Electrical Engineering Departments and designed curricula that continue to impact engineering education in the West African country.

On his return to Nigeria in 2020, he joined the Civil Engineering Department of ACU, where he was appointed Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at the institution in September 2025, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Earlier, he served as ACU Project Engineer between 2000 and 2024 before his appointment as the institution’s first Director of Works in October 2024, where he supervised numerous projects within and outside ACU, Oyo, including the Wole Olanipekun Lecture Halls, Professorial Office Complex, Registrar and Bursar’s Lodge, among others.

Apart from being a Registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), he has been a member of NSE, NICE, and NISafetyE for more than a decade, where he has contributed immensely to the engineering bodies.

He is the incumbent General Secretary of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Oyo Branch, and once served as the Secretary of the Venue Sub-Committee for the 2025 NSE International Conference/AGM, and Chairman, Protocol/Technical Sub-Committee, Engr. Olumuyiwa Ajibola, FNSE Annual Lecture – 2025 Planning Committee, among others.

Some of his scholarly works have been published widely in peer-reviewed journals. He has co-authored laboratory manuals and presented papers at national and international conferences, including:
