FULL LIST: FG Closes 41 Federal Unity Colleges Over Insecurity

Nigeria’s government has on Friday, November 21, 2025, announced the immediate closure of 41 Federal Unity Colleges over rising insecurity across the country.

The closure is coming barely 24 hours after terrorists invaded a Catholic school in Niger State, abducting several students on Friday morning.

Most of the affected 41 schools are located across the North-West, North-East and North-Central regions, where terrorists have attacked and kidnapped school children in recent times. Some of them are also found in parts of the Southern region.

The circular, signed by the Director of Senior Secondary Education, Hajia Abdulkadir, on behalf of the Minister, listed the affected schools as follows:

14. FGC BIRNIN YAURI

16. FGGC KAZAURE

17. FGC KIYAWA

18. FTC HADEJIA

19. FGGC BIDA

20. FGC NEW-BUSSA

21. FTC KUTA-SHIRORO

22. FGA SULEJA

23. FGC ILORIN

24. FGGC OMUARAN

25. FTC GWANARA

26. FGC UGWOLAWO

27. FGGC KABBA

28. FTC OGUGU

Similarly, Katsina, Plateau, Kwara states have ordered immediate closure of public schools due to insecurity targeted attacks by terrorists on public schools.
