Iconic Nigerian music producer, Ajereh Michael Collins, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has donated N20,000,000 to support the 10,000 laptops project aimed at empowering 10,000 Nigerian youths to support their digital skills.

The project tagged, “10,000 laptops to empower 10,000 Nigerian Youths,” was initiated by a UK-based Nigerian medical doctor, Ayinlola Ayotomiwa, on November 6, 2025. He tweeted about the need to support youths in Nigeria with digital gadgets that will aid their digital skills learning and help them earn online.

In an open letter posted on X, the head of the initiative, Ayotomiwa, pleaded with his followers to retweet and tag the music icon. The medical doctor writes:

“@DONJAZZY, I’m reaching out to share a dream that was born right here among young, hopeful Nigerians, The Tech Access Project, an initiative dedicated to empowering 10,000 youths with 10,000 laptops.

“Our vision is simple but deeply powerful: to give young Nigerians, especially those passionate about tech, design, music production, and digital entrepreneurship, the tools they need to build their future.”

He said he was sending the letter to the iconic music producer because he has “been one of the biggest believers in young people, from mentoring creatives and supporting startups to constantly showing love to your fans.

“You’ve used your platform not just to entertain, but to inspire, educate, and empower. That spirit of giving back is what inspired this project.”

According to him, a laptop is a must-have tool in today’s digital world, stating that millions of Nigerian youths have the “vision, skill, and drive but lack the basic tool to bring their ideas to life. We want to change that.”

He said the project was to give the youth a platform to earn a living with their talent and skills.

In his response, Don Jazzy promised to support with the sum of N20 million and also support with a repost to encourage some of his colleagues who may be willing to support.

Commending the initiator of the project, Don Jazzy said: “Bro I hail o. Your initiative is commendable. But sir 10000 laptops is not beans. At this time I can only afford to support with 20 million Naira and a repost. Hopefully some other well meaning Nigerians can help achieve the goal, a promise he has fulfilled.

The generous donation by Don Jazzy garnered more than 37,000 posts at the time of publication, while others are also making promises to donate to the project either by cash or by donating a laptop to support the initiative.

The gesture explains the impact of social media and community engagement for positive change and empowerment. The 10,000 laptops for 10,000 Nigerian Youths is the first and largest initiative embarked upon by a single person.
