ZARIA | OCTOBER 28: The Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, College of Medical Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University, has introduced a new scholarly journal, Annals of Laboratory and Clinical Medicine (ALCM), to enhance medical research and knowledge exchange among scientists and clinicians.

The journal was officially unveiled during the Faculty’s 1st Faculty Day and 8th Anniversary celebration, held at the Red Seat Lecture Hall, Clinical Skills Laboratory, ABU Teaching Hospital, Shika, Zaria.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, at the launch, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Bello Sabo, commended the faculty for initiating the publication and encouraged the team to sustain the effort, describing it as vital for advancing medical research.
Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Abdulaziz Hassan, said the journal would foster collaboration and academic rigor among researchers, students, and healthcare professionals. He explained that ALCM seeks to bridge the gap between basic science and clinical medicine through shared research and interdisciplinary dialogue.
Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Saad Aliyu Ahmed, said the journal would serve as a platform for translating laboratory discoveries into clinical applications. He noted that it welcomes research contributions from fields including medical microbiology, pathology, haematology, pharmacology, and chemical pathology.
Dr. Shamsudin Aliyu, Department of Medical Microbiology, serves as Deputy Editor-in-Chief, supported by six Associate Editors: Prof. Almustapha Aliyu Liman, Prof. Mohammed EL-Bashir Jibril, Prof. Sani Awwalu, Prof. Fatima Jummai Giwa, Prof. Onyeadumarakwe Reginald Obiako, and Dr. Abdulfatai Kayode Ogunkunle.
Members of the Advisory Board include former ABUTH Chief Medical Director, Prof. Abdulmumini Hassan Rafindadi; Prof. Ibrahim Sambo Aliyu; Prof. Aisha Indo Mamman; and Prof. Taiwo Lateef Sheikh.
