AIMTDS Rwanda Appoints Nigerian Professor Austin Nosike As Its President

The Governing Board of the African Institute of Management, Technology and Development Studies (AIMTDS), Kigali, Rwanda, has appointed Nigerian Professor, Austin Nosike, as its new President.

In an official statement signed by the Secretary of the Board, the appointment was confirmed as part of the institute’s strategic plans to strengthen academic leadership, expand collaborations, and enhance research administration.

Professor Nosike, an accomplished scholar in Public Finance and Business Policy, brings more than three decades of experience in higher education and human capacity development.

He has served in senior academic and administrative roles across universities worldwide, including positions as Head of Department, Dean, Registrar, Director, and Deputy Vice Chancellor.

In addition to his new role, Nosike will serve as a member of the AIMTDS Governing Council and Board. The Nigerian-born academic is currently Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics and Research) at International University of Equator, Bujumbura, Burundi, and Head of Partnerships and Linkages at Ugandan Pentecostal University, Fort Portal. He has previously held positions at Copperstone University, Zambia; University of Kigali; Kigali Independent University; and Metropolitan International University, among others.

Established in 1998, AIMTDS is a leading educational, research, and development institution known for its work in policy formulation, capacity building, and academic collaborations with universities, governments, and non-governmental organisations globally. 

The institute conducts educational programmes, research projects, conferences, and professional training aimed at fostering development across the Global South.

The new AIMTDS president has contributed extensively to academia through research supervision, publications, and leadership. He has organised more than 100 international conferences and participated in over 30 research programmes. He has also served in editorial roles for several academic journals, including as founding President of the African Association of Journal Editors.

In October 2024, Nosike, a renowned Professor of Economics and Management, was appointed by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) Namibia to head the audit panel for the institutional audit at Welwitchia University in the southwestern African country.

Prof. Nosike’s academic background spans institutions in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Poland, Spain, Hungary, France, Mexico, and Nicaragua. He holds multiple advanced degrees, including a PhD in Economics and a Doctor of Business Administration, and has over 150 publications to his credit.

The new AIMTDS President is a recipient of numerous international awards and fellowships, and he maintains consulting roles with governments, agencies, and NGOs on projects related to development management, finance, public policy, environmental management, and human rights.
