Academic activities will commence at the Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji (FUADSI), Osun State, in October 2025, the Federal Ministry of Education announced on Tuesday.

On the ground in preparation for the university’s takeoff which her her team inspected are the Administrative Block, Take-off Site, and Permanent Campus of the institution.

Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on February 20, 2025, approved the bill establishing the Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji, Osun State, alongside the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti State.

FUADSI to Be Inserted into JAMB Brochure

Impressed by the level of work done on the site within a short time, the Director assured that her team would ensure FUADSI is inserted into the JAMB brochure, “so that any student that wants to come in by September should be able to go for a change of institution.”

She, however, noted that the next step is for the institution to have principal officers in place so that when the National Universities Commission (NUC) team comes around for Resource Verification, they can make further recommendations “based on the needs of the University and the community.”

She also promised to convey the commitment of the host community, led by the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi Odundun IV, that there are sufficient and conducive quarters available to accommodate principal officers, “as this would ginger the Federal Government to announce them very soon.”

The Aragbiji of Iragbiji, who also serves as the Pro-Chancellor and Governing Council Chairman of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, and the team, with the hope that the visit would accelerate the appointment of principal officers so academic activities can begin before the end of the year.

Also present at the event were notable sons and daughters of the town, including the wife of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola, who promised to relinquish some of her properties to the management of the new university.

The federal delegation also included a representative of the NUC, Dr. Victoria Pillah, and a Director in the Ministry of Education, Mr. Emmanuel Onung, among others.
