There are 125 polytechnics, colleges of education, and seminary institutions affiliated with 27 universities in Nigeria. These institutions are duly recognised by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Following the first successful affiliation between the College of Education, Kano and Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, in 1983, the number of affiliations between lower institutions and universities in Nigeria has continued to grow. This growth is ongoing, provided the affiliating institution meets the requirements set by the Nigerian university it wishes to affiliate with.
The purpose of this article is to enlighten prospective applicants about which institutions are officially affiliated. This information is crucial to help them avoid falling prey to dubious individuals who run illegal study centres across the country and issue fake certificates to unsuspecting and desperate admission seekers.
