Two Arrested for Issuing Fake KWASU Certificates in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested two men for operating an illegal study centre for Kwara State University (KWASU) in Ado-Ekiti.

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Eribo, revealed in the state capital that Adesanmi Sunday and Akinola Olaolu were apprehended in connection with the crime.

He said the two suspects conspired to defraud some students by issuing fake Bachelor’s and Master’s degree certificates of the institution to unsuspecting members of the public.

The commissioner disclosed this on Thursday while briefing the press on discoveries made by the State’s Criminal Investigations Department over the past 90 days.

How They Were Detected

Eribo explained that detectives contacted the authorities of KWASU, who denied any affiliation with the centre or the operators. He added that the suspects were charged to court on April 11, 2025.
