JAMB Postpones 2025 Mock UTME to April 10

The 2025 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), earlier scheduled for April 5, will now hold on Thursday, April 10.

The spokesperson of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Fabian Benjamin, announced the adjustment on Monday, stating that it was made “to ensure that all necessary preparations are completed.”

The examination body revealed that 200,115 candidates expressed interest in taking the optional mock UTME.

According to Benjamin, the rescheduling will also allow JAMB to incorporate a variety of innovations and enhancements aimed at making the 2025 UTME surpass previous achievements, “while also accommodating the increased number of examination centres for the 2025 exercise.”

He further stated that recent research on examination methodologies has shown the need for JAMB to improve its examination processes while aligning with global best practices.

The mock UTME provides JAMB with insights into the actual exam’s administration and allows for necessary adjustments before the main test.

This year’s mock UTME is specifically designed for students below the age of 16, as they are not yet eligible for the actual UTME. The main examination is strictly for candidates aged 16 and above, in line with JAMB’s policy that individuals below this age threshold cannot be considered for admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.

Is the Actual UTME Date Affected?

No, the actual UTME date remains April 25, 2025. Only the mock UTME has been rescheduled.

The Board, however, advised candidates to stay updated on when they can print their Mock Notification Slip, which will provide details about their designated examination centre.
