The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, is scheduled to deliver the 19th Convocation Lecture of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK), in Anambra State.
In a press release obtained by Edubase Nigeria, the institution stated that the lecture, titled “Unity in Diversity,” will be held at the University Auditorium on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 11 AM.
Akume, a two-term governor of Benue State (1999–2007) and former minister, also served as a senator representing the Benue North-West Senatorial District at the National Assembly from 2007 to 2019.
He is an alumnus of the University of Ibadan (UI), where he earned degrees in Sociology (BSc.) and Labour Relations (MSc).
Akume served as the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari (2019–2023). On June 2, 2023, he was appointed as the SGF by President Bola Tinubu.
