Ajayi Crowther University Plans New Role for VC, Prof. Adebayo, After Tenure Ends

Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, has announced plans to create a new role for its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Adebayo, after the conclusion of his tenure in 2025.

This was revealed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Olutoyin Okeowo, during the grand finale of the institution’s 16th convocation ceremony held on Thursday in Oyo.

Dr. Okeowo described Prof. Adebayo as an exceptional academic manager whose contributions to the university remain invaluable.

He noted that although Adebayo’s five-year term as Vice-Chancellor is set to end in September 2025, the Governing Council intends to retain his expertise, by cutting out a new for him.

“He is not just a chartered agriculturist but also an outstanding academic leader whose input we cannot afford to lose,” Okeowo stated.

The Pro-Chancellor praised Adebayo’s exemplary leadership since his appointment in September 2020, emphasizing his remarkable achievements in academic administration.

While he did not specify what the new role would entail, he assured attendees that high-performing leaders like Prof. Adebayo would continue to add value to the faith-based institution.

Prof. Adebayo, a seasoned scholar in Entomology and Pesticide Toxicology, previously served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, before assuming the position of Vice-Chancellor at Ajayi Crowther University.
